Standout Reviews from Erin Larkin for Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Fantastic to see an array of Cherubino wines recognised by Erin Larkin for Robert Parker Wine Advocate, with thoughtful, detailed reviews that speak clearly to site, structure and balance.

These reviews reflect the depth of work across vineyard and winery, and the consistency of what the team continues to deliver across regions, varieties and styles.

2023 Cherubino Uovo Grenache — RP 97
“I tasted this 2023 Uovo Grenache in a flight of South Australian—specifically McLaren Vale—Grenache, in part because it fit better there than in any other category but also because context is everything. Any chance for more or improved perspective, I go for it. The wine is sensational. It does what so many of the other wines promise, in that it gives intense fruit that feels light on its feet, a profusion of tannin that both shapes and defines the wine and length of flavor that allows us to see—to truly see—what else is going on here. In the past six or seven years, Frankland River has revealed itself to be a formidable Grenache region, and I wait with bated breath for more brave people to plant and perfect this wonderful variety in this impressive pocket of southern Western Australia. Whatever the preamble, the wine is elegant, powdery, fresh, detailed and exciting, and it comes warmly recommended.”
14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

2021 Cherubino Nebbiolo — RP 95
“The 2021 Nebbiolo hails from Frankland River in Western Australia’s Great Southern region, and it leads with a beguiling mix of roses and ironstone, graphite and ozone, rust and tapenade. In the mouth, the tannins are spot-on, although this has a decidedly Australian feel to the fruit, in that it is silky and intense in its way. The impression is very good. I recall seeing this wine a number of years ago, and it looked brilliant then, as it does now. It’s an impressive wine from a great part of the world.”
13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

2023 Cherubino Uovo Frankland River Cabernet Nebbiolo — RP 95
“The 2023 Uovo Frankland River Cabernet Nebbiolo leads with a predominance of Nebbiolo, but as with previous vintages, the wine was fermented and matured in an ovoid concrete tank, namely, a concrete egg. This lends the wine a leanness and a tension that oak or steel does not. On the palate, this speaks as clearly of the superb 2023 vintage as it does of its varieties; there is balance and harmony to be found here in all of its aspects, while the tannins are the star of the show. This is very much a Nebbiolo wine, with Cabernet as a deuteragonist. It’s fresh, it’s exciting, and it speaks of Frankland River in its earthy splay of tannin and dusty/fine/earthy profile. It’s an excellent wine.”
14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

2023 Cherubino Laissez Faire Arneis — RP 87
“The 2023 Laissez Faire Arneis leads with lemon zest and turpentine, white pineapple and yellow grapefruit. In the mouth, the wine has floral notes, guava and lime oil; the slightly sweaty notes here are a little challenging, although perhaps some may see them as ‘complexing.’ The grapes were handpicked, whole-bunch pressed and partially fermented in French oak. The fruit is sourced from Frankland River.”
13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Congratulations to everyone involved. It’s a strong reflection of the depth of talent across the Cherubino team and the quality of the vineyards we work in.
