2021 West Australian Wine Guide

2018 CHERUBINO BUDWORTH CABERNET SAUVIGNON

This comes off the famous Riversdale vineyard in Frankland River. It is a wine of extraordinary elegance and style, while packing a powerhouse engine room through the palate. Fragrant black fruit characters with a distinct cedary lift from the new and one-year-old oak. The chalky tannins add substantial support. Very long and brilliant structured wine that shows how good cabernet can be from this region.

2018 CHERUBINO FRANKLAND RIVER SHIRAZ

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Wonderful example of Frankland River shiraz made in a style which is becoming the classic style of the region. More restraint and subtle expression. Perfumed notes of plum and blackberry with a subtle blueberry infusion. The palate is more in the medium-bodied zone and is so balanced. A wine of great elegance and charm.

2018 CHERUBINO MARGARET RIVER CABERNET SAUVIGNON

A super concentrated and powerful cabernet from Margaret River. It is such a striking wine with bay leaf, blackcurrant and a trace of edgy black olive adding further complexity. Tannins have been expertly managed and the new and one-year-old oak applied to ensure long-term ageing. Typical of the vintage with energy and life in the palate.

2019 CHERUBINO MARGARET RIVER CHARDONNAY

This is powerhouse chardonnay from fruit sourced in the south of the region at Karridale. Fragrances of butterscotch and brioche with a subtle roasted almond influence. The palate is so rich and layered with lavish, deep flavour concentration powering through to a sustained lingering finish.
96/100

2019 CHERUBINO PORONGURUP RIESLING

Beautifully precise and keenly focused riesling from Porongurup - a region that is so well suited to riesling. Has a minerally and spicy fragrance. The palate is deeply intense but delivers with a subtle delicacy. Slight bath salts lift through to the finish.
94/100

2019 CHERUBINO PEMBERTON SAUVIGNON BLANC

Cherubino gets his fruit from his Pemberton vineyard. It’s a region well suited to this variety and this one works well. It’s made into the traditional fume style with oak fermentation and maturation. The oak is certainly noticeable, but it never overwhelms and sits harmoniously within the wine as an important part of further ageing in the bottle.
